One Size means that the listing offers a single size. It does not mean the garment fits everyone, and it does not reliably translate to a particular US dress size. Before ordering a Pakistani-style suit or abaya online, compare the garment's measurements with a similar outfit that already fits you.
Start with a garment you know
Choose a kameez, tunic or abaya that fits the way you like to wear it. Lay it flat without stretching the fabric, smooth obvious folds and record the measurements. Using a comparable garment helps you assess the amount of room you prefer, rather than looking only at a size label.
Keep track of how each measurement was taken. A flat underarm-to-underarm width is not the same number as a full bust circumference. When asking the seller for measurements, confirm whether the figures are flat widths or full circumferences and whether they are in inches or centimetres.
The measurements to request for a kameez or tunic
- Bust width: usually measured flat from underarm to underarm. Confirm the method.
- Hip width: useful for longer tops and straight cuts, especially if you want room to sit comfortably.
- Shoulder width: helps you judge how the sleeves will sit.
- Sleeve length and upper-arm room: important when cuffs or embroidered sleeves have little stretch.
- Top length: compare it with your preferred kameez length and the bottoms you plan to wear.
A loose silhouette in a photograph can still be too narrow at the bust, hips or arms. Do not assume embroidery, pleats or a mannequin pose indicate stretch.
Check trousers separately
For a suit set, a well-fitting top does not guarantee well-fitting trousers. Ask about waist measurements and the waistband construction, as well as hip width and trouser length. If the waistband is elasticated, request the relevant relaxed and comfortably stretched measurements rather than stretching it to its limit.
Compare those numbers with trousers you already wear. Also check whether the listed length is an inseam or the full outside length. Those measurements are taken differently and should not be compared as if they were interchangeable.
For an abaya, length deserves extra attention
An abaya's length affects how the whole garment wears. Compare the measurement with your height and the footwear you will use, keeping the hem safely clear of the floor. Ask about lining, opacity and closure type when those details matter to your preferences.
A two-piece abaya set can include different components. The size and contents should be checked for each piece; do not assume a hijab, inner dress or trousers are supplied. Browse the abaya collection and read the individual listing before choosing.
A short message you can send before buying
I'm interested in this outfit. Could you confirm the included pieces and share the kameez bust, hip and length measurements, plus the trouser waist, hip and length? Please let me know whether these are flat measurements or full circumferences, and whether they're in inches or centimetres.
For an abaya, adapt the question to ask for bust, hip, sleeve and full length, along with lining and closure information if needed.
What if measurements are missing?
Ask before ordering, especially for a dated occasion. A photograph can show colour and detailing, but it cannot confirm fit, fabric composition or how much room is available. Do not rely on a guessed conversion from One Size to Small, Medium or Large.
Explore everyday suit sets or festive outfits once you have your measurements. For help understanding the components, read the two-piece versus three-piece suit guide. Before checking out, review the store's current delivery and return information.
